Denzel Washington, the amazing American actor was born on 28 December 1954 in Mount Vernon, New York, USA. Hisparents, their lifestyle and their profession had a deep influence on Denzel Washington. His father, a Pentecostal minister in a church, is a powerful speaker who delivered sermons. His mother, a beautician, in whose salon he spent listening to stories. Denzel watched his dad delivering sermons and critically observed his body language. This sowed the seeds in him for acting and storytelling. Over the years this turned into a passion leading him to take up Drama and Journalism in his B.A.
Denzel Washington also saw ups and downs in his life. When he turned fourteen, his parents' marriage was on the rocks that eventually led to divorce. In order to spare them from the impact and possible consequences of divorce his parents were kind enough to send Denzel and his sister to a boarding school. From there he went to Fordham University to study B.A. While at Fordham, he played basketball under coach P. J. Carlesimo. Finally in 1977 he graduated from Fordham University. Later he won scholarship to enter the American Conservatory Theatre at San Francisco; He studied there for one year and later set out to look for work.
